The 14-Day Website Build: How We Do It (And Why Most Agencies Take 14 Weeks)

June 22, 2026

Most websites take 6-14 weeks to build. NexysWeb sites take 14 days, guaranteed — and we've never missed it. This post explains exactly how, day by day, and why most agencies take ten times longer.

Why most builds drag on

Before the how, the why. Six things kill website timelines in 80% of agency builds:

  1. Scope creep. "Can we just add one more page?" Now we're rebuilding the nav.
  2. Async approval. Designer emails mock-up Monday, client responds Friday, designer revises following Tuesday. One round = 9 days.
  3. Hand-offs. Designer hands to developer hands to QA hands to deployment. Each hand-off loses a day.
  4. Content delays. "We're still waiting on the team bios."
  5. Custom design from scratch. Three rounds of "make the blue bluer" before anyone writes code.
  6. Multi-client studios. Your project competes with 8 others for the same designer's time.

Our 14-day process attacks all six.

The 14-day timeline, day by day

Day 0 — Claim & strategy call

You submit a claim form. Within 60 seconds you get an SMS booking link. Within 24 working hours we're on a 15-minute call. You walk away with a written quote.

If you sign that day, Day 1 starts the next working morning. If you sign within a week, Day 1 starts the next Monday.

Day 1 — Kickoff (30 minutes)

One call. Three artefacts confirmed:

  1. Brand: colours, fonts, logo, voice — usually inherited from your existing brand
  2. Scope: exactly which pages, exactly which CTAs, exactly which forms (signed off in writing)
  3. Content: what we have, what you'll send, deadline for missing pieces (usually Day 3)

No second meeting to "align". The kickoff is the alignment.

Days 2–5 — Design

We design every page. Day 2: home page mock-up sent. You comment in-line on a Figma link. Day 3: revisions sent. Day 4: every other page mocked up. Day 5: final revisions and sign-off.

This is the make-or-break window. We need decisions within 24 hours of each artefact landing. If you can't commit to that, we'll honestly tell you the 14-day clock can't start yet.

Days 6–10 — Build

Day 6: dev environment up, base components built, first page in code.
Day 7: all pages structurally built, lorem ipsum still in places.
Day 8: all real copy in, all real images in, mobile pass.
Day 9: forms wired to GHL, tracking installed (GA4, Meta Pixel), email/SMS automations tested.
Day 10: full QA pass on staging — every form submitted, every button clicked, every email triggered, every link checked.

You see staging from Day 7 onwards. We send daily updates.

Days 11–13 — Polish & pre-launch

Day 11: SEO pass — meta tags, structured data, sitemap, robots.txt.
Day 12: Performance pass — image optimisation, Lighthouse target 90+ mobile, Core Web Vitals all green.
Day 13: Final client walkthrough on staging. Last chance for tweaks before launch.

Day 14 — Launch

DNS cuts over. SSL provisioned. Caches purged. We monitor for 24 hours.

You get the launch confirmation email with: live URL, admin credentials, GA4 access, GHL workflow links, hosting dashboard link, support WhatsApp number.

The penalty clause that keeps us honest

If we miss Day 14, your once-off fee drops by R500 per working day of delay. The cap is the full fee waived.

So a NexysWeb Standard at R7,500 once-off becomes:

  • Live Day 14: R7,500
  • Live Day 15: R7,000
  • Live Day 16: R6,500
  • ...
  • Live Day 29 (15 days late): free

This isn't a marketing gimmick. It's a contract clause. It's in writing on every quote.

The clock pauses if delay is caused by:

  • You missing the 24-hour approval window
  • Scope changes after sign-off
  • Third-party outages (GHL, Cloudflare, DNS)
  • Force majeure

Everything else is on us.

The non-negotiables that make 14 days possible

This timeline only works if both sides commit. The non-negotiables:

  1. Pre-built component library. We don't design buttons from scratch each project. We have ~30 production components (hero, pricing, testimonial, form, etc.) styled to your brand within hours, not days.
  2. One designer-developer per project. No hand-offs. The person designing is the person building.
  3. Astro on Cloudflare Pages. Zero-config deploys, sub-second builds, instant global CDN. WordPress took 30 minutes per deploy. Astro takes 12 seconds.
  4. GHL pre-wired. We've built the same lead-capture → workflow → CRM integration 23 times. It takes an hour to clone, not three days to build.
  5. Cloudflare for everything. DNS, SSL, CDN, edge functions — one provider, one dashboard, zero hand-offs to a sysadmin.
  6. 24-hour client response window. Stated upfront. If you can't commit to it, we postpone the build or scope it differently.

When 14 days isn't possible (and we say so)

We don't take every job. We'll defer the build or refuse it if:

  • You need a multi-language site with 4+ languages
  • You're integrating with a custom enterprise system that's never been documented
  • You need 50+ pages or 100+ products at launch (we'll do an MVP first, then add)
  • Your team can't commit to the 24-hour approval cadence
  • You don't actually know what your offer is yet (we'll send you to our strategy call first)

Honesty is part of the guarantee.

Test the guarantee

If you've been quoted 8-12 weeks elsewhere and you're tired of waiting, claim a free strategy call. We'll diagnose your project, give you a written quote, and tell you the exact launch date — in writing. Claim your call here →
